Welcome to Expedition CrossFit. Let's start by answering a couple of the most common questions and concerns that people have about starting CrossFit.
What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that incorporates elements of Olympic weight lifting, power lifting, gymnastics, track, and many other elements useful to everyday life. All workouts are scalable to any level to include couch potato, soccer mom, elite special forces troops, high school students, triathletes, grandparents and anyone in between. The physical demands placed on these different populations vary by degree and intensity not functionality. Everyone squats. Whether it is to get out of a chair, pick up groceries, a child, or as part of your job. Learning and having good mechanics in in the squat as with any other exercises is key not only to injury prevention but longevity. When we say longevity we mean as it applies to all aspects of life not just sport. No one wants to get it older but as it happens the need to preform functional movements never goes away, only the degree and intensity may change.
Why come to Expedition CrossFit locations?
We have a strong group of Coaches from many different backgrounds and a wide range of experience. Included in our coaches we have 3 Combat veterans from the Army, Navy and Marine Corps, we have two 2 time CrossFit Regionals competitors, a mother of three, college students, a police officer, a competitive gymnast and yoga instructor. Additionally we offer specialty courses in Olympic lifting, and Kettlebell. Expedition CrossFit and our Coaches are very involved in our local community. In the short time since we opened we have hosted a toys-for-tots fundraiser, helped sponsor a family from the Women's and Children's Alliance, and offer a free community workout once a month at the Reebok outlet store.
